Product Description The ARK - Always Ready Knife Salt Fixed Blade Knife The ARK is a purpose-designed personal-defense knife created by U.S. Army combat veteran John Shirley and his friend Sam Owens. While serving in Afghanistan, Shirley noticed a concerning number of sexual assaults occurring, especially during showering. Drawing on his knowledge of Japanese martial arts and Owens' craftsmanship skills, they developed the ARK as a lightweight self-defense tool that can be carried anywhere. The core of the ARK is its curved clip-point blade made from H-1 steel, a highly corrosion-resistant alloy. This blade design offers excellent cutting power in a compact size, with a sharp, strong point. The ARK features a fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle with Spyderco's Bi-Directional Texturing pattern and an index-finger groove for a secure grip, even with wet hands. For versatile carry options, the ARK comes with an injection-molded polymer neck sheath with a breakaway ball chain. Despite its capabilities, the ARK and sheath together weigh only 2.0 ounces, ensuring it's easy to carry without being noticeable.
