Since its debut in 1990, the Delica has been a staple of the Spyderco product range. It, along with its larger sibling the Endura, revolutionized the market with its lightweight, clip-carry design and one-handed folding mechanism. These knives played a key role in popularizing fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) as a handle material.

In 2006, the Delica underwent a complete redesign to become the current Delica4. In order to achieve maximum strength while keeping weight to a minimum, the handle now includes skeletonized stainless steel liners within FRN scales featuring Spyderco’s Bi-Directional Texturing pattern for superior grip.

Following the success of the saber-ground Delica4 with a black FRN handle, Spyderco introduced various versions, including one with the Emerson opening feature for quick deployment, a flat-ground version with a premium ZDP-189 blade, and a series of flat-ground VG-10 Delicas with different colored FRN handles.
